Zirconium Silicate, ZrSiO4

Zirconium Silicate, ZrSiO4, occurs naturally as the mineral zircon which has already been described; and it has been produced synthetically in various ways, e.g. by heating zirconia or a mixture of zirconia and quartz in a current of silicon tetrafluoride, by heating a mixture of zirconia and silica with lithium molybdate to 800° C., or a mixture of gelatinous zirconia and gelatinous silica nearly to redness under pressure.
